Hunter of the Children of the Night

They arrived at a grand castle/mansion. Sierra looked up at the towering wall and then at two black-suited men at the door.

"Sh, sh. It's alright. Just act like an overprotective parent." Sirius whispered into Jane's ear, stroking her hand.

Sierra flashed the guards a grin, showing her fangs. One of the guards' eyes widened by a fraction. "The born vampiress I assume." Sierra nodded and, still grinning, flashed the guards her invite and they walked in.

They entered a ballroom. It was full of light and chandeliers but had been designed to look gothic with candles and cobwebs. The main colours were black and red. The room was lined with several mirrors. "Jane, behind those mirrors, there are doors. One of them leads to the keep. We'll have to sneak out at some point.

The room was full of people. Many were dancing and some sitting at little cream-coloured tables. Waiters dashed through the crowd, carrying champagne glasses full of blood. Sierra snagged two as a waiter went past. She gave one to Logan. "More crowded than I thought. This'll be hard. We might need to come up with a distraction so Mother and Father can sneak off." On the whole, Sierra was very excited. She was practically bouncing.

Jane looked around wide eyed. "Oh, wow. This isn't even close to what I imagined." Jane said sting close to Sirius. "Sierra stay close to us." She said getting into the parent role.

"Mum," Sierra whined. "You're embarrassing me." She rolled her eyes and took a sip from her glass, looking completely the part of a spoilt brat.

The vampire Lord appeared *anyone can control him*. "Thank you, Vampiresses and Vampires, for attending this ball. As you know this is a pretigious event...."

Sierra began to tune out with a bored look, leaning slightly on Logan. "I think they've put alchohol in the blood..." Sierra couldn't handle much alchohol. She became drunk very easily.

Sirius shook his head. He snatched a glass of blood and tried it. "Yes. They have."

"Thought so," Sierra replied. She had already taken a full glass.

Jane looked at the glass and at her daughter. "That's enough for you, dear." Jane said.

"As I was saying this is a huge event...." *What should I talk about?*

The smell of the blood was sicking to Jane. Plus she doesn't like alcohol. "What shall we do now.?" Jane asked Sirius.

*You spelled alcohol wrong.*

*Ah...*

The vampire Lord opened his arms wide suddenly as if to embrace the room. "And a festival in honour of the crowning of the vampire King and Queen the following month. Remember to vote." He stood down and applause filled the room. The Lord knew he was the most likely for the position of King. And he knew who he would take as his bride.

The room was tilting for Sierra. She grabbed Logan's arm even tighter- with a strength that would snap a human in half. "B-b-b-b..." SHe tried to say something but the words were slurred and wouldn't come out. Sierra didn't even know she was drunk.

Jane looked at Sirius. "Shall we do what we came here to do?" Jane asked, in a whisper. She was as Sierra got drunk very quickly.

Sirius nodded. "Yes, but can you remember your mother's scent? That's the only way we're going to know which mirror the keep is behind."

Jane closed her eyes. "I know where to go." Jane said with a grim smile.

"After you, my lady," To Logan he said, "Make sure that Sierra doesn't get in too much trouble but don't restrain her. A distraction is what Jane and I need."

Sierra was giggling at something an elderly vampire had said but the vampire gave her a weird look- obviously it hadn't been meant as a joke.

Jane lead the way to a mirror. "This is the one." Jane said pointing at it.

Sirius edged up to where Jane was, careful to greet people as he moved along. "Going there now will attract attention. We've got to wait until Sierra does something very stupid and all eyes are on her." He whispered.

A new song came on just then- a slow dance made for couples. Sierra giggled in delight. "ROCK THE HOUSE!" She cried, dodging in a flit some black-suited men as they tried to grab her to stop her from ruining the event. The vampire Lord was trying and failing to stifle his laughter. He had been the one to spike the drinks.

"OK, now." Sirius pushed open the door and quickly swept inside, taking Jane's hand.

Jane looked at Sierra ."Remind me to ground her when this is over." Jane said following Sirius.

Sirius chuckled. "Well, she has an excuse. She's completely drunk. Plus, to be honest I don't fancy trying to keep her grounded." He grimaced. "A lot of trouble to control someone with that much experience of sneaking around and sneaking out. Speaking on sneaking..." He took to a flight a stone stairs that lead upwards in a steady spiral. "I guess we go this way. I don't doubt that there are guards."

Jane shuddered. "I can try to." Jane said " I don't see, hear nor smell any guards." Jane said looking every where.

Logan ran after Sierra and instead of attempting to hold her away from the dancefloor. He joined her in ruining the dance.He loved playing up.Plus it was the perfect discraction. He wasn't even a bit drunk. He prefered fresh blood rather than the suff they served at parties.

"Neither do I," Sirius said. "Well, the only way is up." Taking the stairs two at a time so that he could scout ahead, putting Jane in less danger. "Ah... I'm guessing that there is doors every floor." He came to a wooden padlocked door. "Smell your mother?"

Meanwhile, Sierra and Logan had been attracting very strange looks. Sierra had had another glass of spiked blood, much to the Lord's delight, and was now on a table doing a wild dance that seemed to break every piece of glass in sight. Guests dived out of the way- most being inferior to Sierra. Suddenly, a red haze seemed to come over Sierra's eyesight and she jumped down into a crouched position, ripping one of the seams on her dress. She growled ferally.

Jane nodded. "Yes she is at the top of the stairs, and I think that she is ready to face me." Jane said looking at Sirius.

Sirius wanted to ask how she knew, but he saw the advantages of being silence. This time taking three stairs at a time, he flitted up the stairs and arrived at the top, checking for guards.

Logan heard Sierra's growl and immediatly was over there.He loosely grabbed her arm and asked what was wrong.She looked bloodthirsty,if she got near enough to bite anyone she could be breaking her oath.

More guests backed away as Sierra shook Logan off, stalking forward. Menace and danger were all apparent in her stance and the drunken moves of before were gone. Insteadly was deadly precision and fluency. She was not hungry, but she felt a deep well of anger within her. Sierra launched herself at the nearest vampire.

*It's hard to play with a kid so I'm going to make her break her oath.*

Jane led Sirius to a door. "She's waiting for us." was all that she could say.

Logan jumped forward to hold Sierra back, but misjudged her speed and therefore missed her arm by a centermetre.In that second he just hoped that she didn't manage to bite the vampire she lunged for.

Sierra's red vision clouded her senses as she evaded Logan, the pure power of the hunt flowing through her. The vampire she had gone for looked at her with wide eyes and barely concealed rage. Sierra sank his fangs into his neck.

*I just realised that no one can really post.*

Sirius nodded to Jane. "Then let's go." He tried the door to see if it was locked. Predictably, it was. With a firm shove, the hinges broke and the door flew open. "Are you ready for this my love?"

The vampire died in Sierra's arms and, in horrible disgust, she spat away his 'blood' as the taste sobered her instantly. "Oh no..." She whispered, looking around in panic. "What have I done?" She knew that now she only had a few hours left of childhood before she started changing. The guards advanced and the vampire Lord had disappeared somewhere. The guests were running away. "Logan!" Sierra cried.

Jane walked passed him. "As ready as I can be, dear." Jane said looking in the room.

*Oh yeah remember way back then i said that i was the mother... well here we go.*

"My, my look at who is here." Said a disembody voice.

Jane stopped dead in her tracks. "Mother." Jane spat out.
